Acid-Alkaline Balance in Human Body

To keep body healthy it is necessary to maintain the right acid-alkaline balance, which is generally referred to as pH balance

What is pH

According to Britannica encyclopedia, pH is a “quantitative measure of the acidity or basicity of aqueous or other liquid solutions”. Generally speaking, it reflects the concentration of hydrogen ions in liquid solution. Pure distilled water has pH = 7 that means that a solution is neutral (no acid neither alkaline). If pH less that 7, a solution is acidic (the less the number, the more acidic environment). Consequently, if pH more than 7, it means that a solution is alkaline (the more the number, the more alkaline environment).

What is healthy pH balance

In our mouth we should have an alkaline reaction pH = 7.2-7.9. An acidic environment in the mouth promotes caries. Moreover, only in alkaline environment, vitamin of group B could be activated.

When all indicators of healthy digestive systems are in norm, pancreatic juice has pH = 7.8-9.0, bile has pH = 7.5-8.5, and large intestines have 8.9-9.0.

Blood plasma normally has pH 7.35 – 7.45, which is weakly alkaline. As soon as blood pH goes down, acidification of the body occurs (99% of people suffer from this). And in an acidified environment, any pathogenic organisms, including cancer cells, are activated. According to Dr. N, if the plasma pH is less than 7, it creates an environment where cancel cells could grow. However, if these cells are placed in an alkaline environment of 7.4, the cancer cells die.

That is why it is important to maintain an acid-base balance and ensure that an alkaline environment is created in the body. How to reduce the acidity in blood and organs? Start drinking baking soda! Soda will help increase the level of alkali in the body (see soda treatment post).
